Strong Dryline in OK/TX

Nice Dryline across OK showing up well on satellite and radar (and surface data, obviously.) Cus and Radar show a nice boundary where strongest moisture is moving north and northwest. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is VERY capped and there isn't much of a shortwave trough to help destabilize the mid-levels. But maybe ...

2" of rain at midway ..

It is 1:40 am and the rain continues to fall. 1.96" of rain so far and there will be no let up any time soon. Worse, it is May 26th and there is a good chance we won't make it past 50F tomorrow, along with strong northerly winds. Meteorological summer starts in 6 days and we are still stuck in March weather.

Small depart from weather ...

I can't believe my son has been walking now for 8 months, He started walking at 11 1/2 months and now he is 19 1/2 months. Time flies!! Not to mention he is saying 4 and 5 word sentences, has a vocab well past 100, can throw a ball to a target, can play the memory game, and knows so many shapes that he even knows octagon (Oct-gan.) My son amazes me. :)

Tornado hits semi in Oklahoma. Amazing!

Joplin day 3, and more.

Not only did Joplin have to deal with more severe weather, for the 3rd day in the row, but there were numerous tornadoes in KS, OK, and TX. Very typical May severe with lots of severe reports.

Joplin shelf cloud the day after the tornado

http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2011/05/tornado-ravages-joplin-missouri/100072/  The Atlantic has published some amazing photos of the Joplin, MO damage. The day after the tornado Joplin had to deal with severe weather again! Here, a shelf cloud approaches the tornado ravaged area (as if they didn't have enough to deal with!) My thoughts and prayers go out to those in Joplin.
The photo is property of "The Atlantic" publication. I only posted it for the blog's sake and encourage you to go to the link I provided above. The series of photos for Joplin is breathtaking.

Back to weather :)

After a hiatus from weather, I am now ready to come back and will update my blog from time to time again. It was a hard road for me to remove the habits of old. I was so used to living and breathing weather every single day and I pretty much had to go cold turkey for a while so that I could get used to the change. While I will not be doing weather professionally (in the long run), I will never stop loving it and being a part of it. I'm now ready to dive into weather again as a hobbyist. I sill miss much of my old job quite a bit but I also know my new path is right on. I'm excited to go on to new and exciting things all while maintaining my love for weather as a hobbyist. That was a tough one for a while but now that I'm at peace and sure of my new path, my love for weather can never be derailed.

And now.time to post a little weather :)
